Michelle Scott, DVM
Dr. Michelle Scott was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. She developed an early interest in animals as a young child and decided on a career in veterinary medicine during her fifth-grade year. This focused her academic pursuits on mathematics and the sciences throughout her schooling.
In 1996, Dr. Scott began her career in the veterinary field as kennel staff at a local veterinary clinic. She went on to graduate from the University of Illinois in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science. Dr. Scott then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2007.
Dr. Scott joined Dr. Neil Schaffer at the Carlyle Animal Hospital in 2007 as a newly graduated veterinarian. In 2015, she purchased partial ownership of the Carlyle Animal Hospital and became the sole owner of the business in 2020.
Dr. Scott finds both practice ownership and the field of veterinary medicine to be personally fulfilling, despite their challenges. In her personal time, she enjoys engaging in a variety of hobbies such as quilting, playing the ukulele, and dancing Lindy Hop and other swing dances. She also loves reading and spending time with her two schnauzers and two cats at her home in Carlyle.
